Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using EntitleCan to discover your Canadian government benefits.
How It Works
EntitleCan uses a simple 3-step process: (1) Answer a short questionnaire about your age, income, family, and residency — it takes about 2 minutes. (2) Our rules engine instantly checks your answers against the eligibility criteria for 27+ federal and provincial benefit programs. (3) You see which programs you likely qualify for, along with estimated benefit amounts. No registration is required to use the basic calculator.
We currently check eligibility for 27 programs across 8 categories: pensions (CPP, OAS, GIS), employment insurance (EI Regular, EI Sickness, EI Parental), disability benefits (Canada Disability Benefit, RDSP), family benefits (Canada Child Benefit, Maternity/Parental), education (Student Loans, RESP/CLB), housing (First Home Savings Account, Home Buyers' Plan), health (Canadian Dental Care Plan), and tax credits (GST/HST Credit, Canada Workers Benefit). We also cover 10 provincial programs across Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia.
The questionnaire takes about 2 minutes to complete. Results appear instantly — there's no waiting period. You can answer as many or as few questions as you like; the more information you provide, the more accurate your results will be.
No. The basic eligibility calculator is completely free and works without an account. Creating an account lets you save your results, track changes over time, and receive notifications when program rules change. A Premium subscription adds proactive alerts and detailed benefit breakdowns.
Our estimates are based on the publicly available program rules published by the Government of Canada and provincial governments. We apply the same eligibility criteria and benefit formulas that the government uses, using the information you provide. However, actual benefit amounts are determined solely by the relevant government agency based on your complete application and circumstances.
All federal programs apply to residents of every province and territory. We also include specific provincial programs for Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia. We're actively working to add programs for the remaining provinces and territories.
Privacy & Security
We only collect the information you voluntarily provide in the calculator: demographic details (age, province), household information (income, family status), and employment details. If you use the calculator without an account, your data is processed in your browser and is not stored on our servers. If you create an account, your profile data is stored securely in our database with encryption at rest and in transit, protected by row-level security policies that ensure only you can access your own data.
No, never. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Your data is used solely to calculate your benefit eligibility. We may use anonymized, aggregated statistics to improve our service.
If you have an account, you can request data deletion by contacting us at privacy@entitlecan.ca. We will delete all your personal data within 30 days. If you used the calculator without an account, no data was stored to delete.

Accuracy & Disclaimers
Our estimates are based on current, publicly available program rules and the information you provide. For most programs, our eligibility determination is highly accurate. However, benefit amounts are estimates — actual amounts depend on your complete circumstances, which the relevant government agency determines when you apply. We recommend always verifying directly with the program before making financial decisions.
No. EntitleCan is an informational tool only. We are not financial advisors, tax professionals, or legal counsel. Our results should not be treated as professional advice. We strongly recommend consulting with a qualified professional for financial, tax, or legal decisions. Always verify your eligibility directly with the relevant government agency.
We monitor government program announcements and update our rules regularly to reflect changes in eligibility criteria and benefit amounts. However, there may be a short lag between when a government announces a change and when we update our data. Each program page shows the tax year the rules apply to.
If you believe a program's rules have changed and our data doesn't reflect it, please let us know through our contact page. We appreciate community feedback and will investigate promptly. In the meantime, always check the official program website for the most current information.
